I am beyond grateful to be recognized as the 2025 California Woman of the Year for the 79th Assembly District by Assemblymember LaShae Sharp-Collins in Sacramento! This moment is a powerful reminder of why I do this work—to create pathways to success for women and girls of color through mentorship, leadership, and empowerment.
From the DETOUR’s F.A.N.C.Y. Teen Girls Expo & Academy to Workforce Development, my mission has always been to equip young girls with the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive. But this honor is bigger than me—it belongs to every young girl who dares to dream, every mentor who shows up, and every community leader who believes in the power of change.
Thank you, Assemblymember LaShae Sharp-Collins, for this incredible recognition and for amplifying the voices of women who are driving impact in our communities. I share this award with all the amazing individuals who have been part of this journey.

Join the F.A.N.C.Y. Movement
With the help of donors and supporters, we’ve made an impact by reaching and engaging the community to provide teen girls with positive role models and learning and development opportunities. Since 2010, our events have served over 2,000 teen girls and engaged a significant number of parents, organizations and community volunteers.
In order to continue our work, expand our impact, and close the gap on our current needs, we need to accelerate our fundraising and build more relationships.
We invite you and your organization to be a part of our innovative way of making a difference through helping our Focused And Naturally Confident Youth! We are currently seeking partnerships with individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations for our F.A.N.C.Y. Teen Girls Leadership Programs!
The F.A.N.C.Y. Teen Girls Leadership Academy Waitlist is Now Open!
We are committed to connecting and empowering girls in San Diego County through providing leadership programs, increasing awareness/education, and hosting empowerment events which increase self-esteem & confidence. The F.A.N.C.Y. Teen Girls Leadership Academy is a DETOUR youth development mentorship program which places an emphasis on improving the self-esteem and self-awareness of teen girls ages 12-17.
