BRITTANY JASPER OF DETOUR EMPOWERS COMPLETED THE ‘BLACK GIRLS LEAD PROGRAM’ AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY THIS SUMMER

Ms. Brittany Jasper, successfully attended the 2017 Black Girls Lead Conference from July 31 to August 3 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City! Designed to be a ‘meeting of the minds’ for young people who have displayed excellence individually, and who will also benefit from the program’s culturally relevant pedagogy that highlights teamwork and collective responsibility for girls, the conference selectively chose only the best applications from a massive pool of submissions.

This program would not have been possible without the help of our sponsors, Deborah-Ann & Walker Bowie, New Assurance Baptist Church, Aisha Davis, Lillian Carroll, Shanita Franklin, Margie Spikes, Rayna Gomes, Chanel Holland, GeBren Blakely, Tamara Roque, and Tomeka Felder!
